AFS diena skolā

No 24. līdz 28. septembrim mūsu skolā notiek svešvalodu nedēļa.
Savu darbu mēs prezentējām 5.b, 4.a, 12.a, 9.a, 6.a, 8.a, 5.a, 7.b, 10.a klasēm.

AFS DAY AT SCHOOL

From 24th to 28th September in our school is a week of foreign languages. On the occasion of the European Day of Languages, which is celebrated on September 26th, I prepared a presentation about the AFS programme at our school, together with the girls participating in AFS. We prepared the presentations together with Jelena Klimova (English teacher), Mara D`Andrea, Form 10 a (fiftieth AFS student in our school) and Jessica Zdanovskaya, Form 7a, whose family is an AFS volunteer, host family and every year accepts students for exchange in their home.
All day long on September 25th in Room 201 together with girls I told about AFS programme, its value in the life of our school and Latvia, about Mara's emotions from the first month in Kraslava. The exchange student told us about her dear family, hobbies, school and friends. She also shared her impressions of our town, which were positive. The only thing the girl from the southern part of Italy does not like is our cold weather.
We presented our work to school classes. We told the children about the AFS programme, about the participation of our school and Latvia in this programme, Mara told us about herself as an exchange student, and Jessica about the participation of her family in this exchange.
Together we learned a lot about this student exchange programme, the history of how our school started the AFS programme, learned how many students visited us during twenty-three years of our school participation in AFS and a lot of other useful information. We successfully answered the quizzes and got sweet prizes. It was interesting and educational.
I am thankful for your attention and taking part in the activities during the presentation time. Also, thanks to the English teachers for organization of this unforgettable event.
