        I am so thankful…

On Friday,  the 15th March, I celebrated my 17th birthday. I had a great time! On this occasion my German friend Jule (she is also an exchange student who actually lives in Riga) came to Kraslava to visit the town and to spend some time with me.  I spend the day with her, my host family and with my dear friend Emily. In the morning my sisters organised a surprise for me and gave me a lot of presents! Teacher Jelena visited our home to wish me a happy birthday and gave me some beautiful flowers, too.  Then I tried to cook something (pizza and tiramisu, typical Italian dishes).  In the afternoon I got a beautiful surprise: my classmates and teacher Marianna came home singing "Happy Birthday" with balloons and a delicious cake! In the evening we ate the dishes I had cooked and some sushi with my family and my grandmother. I had a lot of fun!

So now I'd like to write some lines to thank all the people who  had a thought for me on my birthday: I really appreciated all your lovely wishes! Then a huge "thank you" to all my classmates an my teacher Marianna, not only for the fantastic  surprise, but mostly for the love they spread every day and the incredible help they give me every time I need it: I have the best class in the world!

Thanks to teacher Jelena who always supports me and to Emily who shares this experience with me.

Late but not least, thanks to my host family who made me become another daughter and they always try to make me happy.  I love them all, I am so lucky to have found them here!

With love and respect, Mara  AFS student, Form 10 a
